I grew up in a home of educators, so I wasn’t too surprised when I found myself in the field after graduating from college in 2013. My first experience with Montessori was in Charlotte, NC, where I worked as an adolescent guide, teaching math and humanities at Omni Montessori School.
What began as a good opportunity blossomed into a deep respect of the transformative power of peace education. I loved that each day we worked: on the land, all together, with our hands and our heads, and for each other. I learned from some amazing colleagues and mentors, and from the adolescents themselves. In 2015, my school extended me the great opportunity to attend the NAMTA/AMI Orientation to Adolescent Studies in Huntsburg, Ohio, and bring renewed insight and passion to my school.
This past year, I decided to leave Charlotte to be closer to my family here in Louisville, where I’m excited to return to Montessori education. Guiding children through some of the most important years of human development is no small feat: thankfully, I’m in the company of an amazing group of Montessorians. I’m happy to be a part of the Magnolia Team!
